Astronomical Unit that average distance from the Earth to the Sun

Atom The smallest unit of a chemical element that can still reatin the properties of that element.

Atomic Number the number of protons in an atom's nucleus; this atomic number determines an element's placement on the periodic table.

Base a substance that increases the OH concentration of a solution; a proton acceptor.

Biodiversity the existence of a wide range of different species in a given area or specific period of time

Biome a complex biotic community characterized by the interaction of living organisms anc climatic factors
